In general opinion the Breeders cup is one of the most important horse races in the world. In my personal opinion is the most popular around the world. Is invites horses either from the United States and the whole Europe community. This time the whole festival will start on Friday November the 6th and the race will be taking place on Saturday the 7th . The place, which is the same for last’s year will be the Santa Anita horse track located in Arcadia, California. This time the event is going to be broadcasted by ESPN nationwide in order to let everybody watch the last most important two minutes in horse racing of the year.
Three of the first four Breeders’ Cup events were held in southern California, beginning in 1984 at Hollywood Park, at Santa Anita in 1986 and again at Hollywood Park in 1987. This year the location is the same than for the previous edition. The Santa Anita horse track will be the hosting track in which we will see the most powerful horses around the world pursuing the honor of being considered the fastest horse in the world.
"We are excited about the prospect for consecutive years in America's second largest media market," Bill Farish, chairman of Breeders' Cup Ltd., said in a statement. In the statement, Breeders' Cup officials said the decision to hold the Cup at Santa Anita in 2009 did not signal a permanent change in the selection process. Future sites will be evaluated on a year-by-year basis.
The 2007 Breeders’ Cup at Monmouth Park marked the first time that the event was conducted as a two-day format. It consisted of 11 races and $23 million in purses. In December, the event was again expanded, as three more races were added to the program: the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and the $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Marathon.
There are a lot of improvements based in costs for the fans on this edition of the race. "We believe that setting the General Admission price at $10 for 2009 is another step in our efforts to ensure that sports fans in Southern California can experience our World Championships in person at a very reasonable cost," said Peter Land, Breeders' Cup Chief Marketing Officer.
Besides that, there are also more options that are offered that will make this event a really interesting place to go. Fans will now be able to get a seat on Championship Friday for as little as $40 compared to $200 in 2008 and also single Day prices for premium seating are reduced by 30%.
As you can see, this year, attending the race is actually a really good option that will offer the fans a lower price for the same amount of entertainment and fun. Based in this point of view we can probably wait more people to attend the competition this year. |
